About SYGNAL

Our Mission

SYGNAL was built to solve a real problem: hazmat and CBRNE training is expensive, logistically complex, and often inaccessible to the teams that need it most. Traditional hardware simulators cost tens of thousands of dollars per unit, require annual calibration, and are limited by the number of physical units a department can afford. Teams train less often than they should, not because they don't want to, but because the tools are too expensive and too cumbersome.

Built by Responders, for Responders

SYGNAL was created by people who understand the operational reality of emergency response. Every feature exists because a real team needed it, not because it looked good on a spec sheet. Our customers include municipal fire departments, hazmat teams, technical rescue units, CBRNE programs, military training organizations, and private training providers across North America and internationally. Their feedback drives the roadmap.

Patented Technology

SYGNAL's simulation engine and BLE proximity system are patented. Our approach, using the smartphones and tablets your team already owns as gas detector interfaces, with Bluetooth beacons as hazard sources placed in the real training environment, is fundamentally different from legacy hardware simulators. It is also why SYGNAL can simulate virtually any gas monitor or hazard type, scale to any team size without per-seat hardware costs, and continuously add new detector profiles and scenarios over time.

NFPA-Aligned Training

SYGNAL training content and after-action documentation align with the current consolidated responder standards: NFPA 1010 (Professional Qualifications for Emergency Responders, which absorbed Firefighter I/II qualifications and others in the recent NFPA restructure) and NFPA 1072 (Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials and WMD Incidents). Per-trainee after-action reports support the documentation departments need for training records, recertification, ISO reporting, and accreditation.

How SYGNAL Is Used

Departments and training organizations use SYGNAL across the full spectrum of training delivery, virtual classroom instruction, tabletop exercises, in-station drills, full-scale field exercises, multi-agency regional drills, and recurring shift-level skill maintenance. The same platform supports all of these formats, which is one of the reasons training programs adopt it: a single tool, instead of separate systems for separate delivery modes. See the case studies for real examples from Overwatch Training, CBRN HQ, New England Rescue Collaborative, HazMat 101 Consultants, Rope Access Inspections, Firehouse Training, and D2 Emergency Management.
