SYGNAL ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application, command web app, and marketing website.
Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, such as your name, email address, organization, and payment information when you purchase a subscription or product. We also collect usage data including session activity, device information, crash diagnostics, and approximate location data during training exercises (with your consent). Bluetooth scan data from SYGNAL Source beacons is processed on the device during exercises. It leaves the device only when you upload an after-action report, or through diagnostics sharing, which is on by default and described below.
Diagnostic Data
When a trainee joins an offline training session from a QR code, the app may record anonymous diagnostic measurements to help us improve the accuracy and reliability of readings. This can include the Bluetooth signal strength, battery level and status counters of the training sources, the standard names of the training sources in use or nearby (a name someone typed in is replaced by a code), the scenario's gas and alarm settings, the app's own signal processing settings, the readings and alarm state shown on screen, device model, operating system and app version, whether the device was moving or still, compass direction, how the device was tilted, relative air pressure used to detect height changes, when bump test or zero was used, when the app was paused or resumed, when Bluetooth was switched off or on or scanning was interrupted, and session timing. Each recording is linked to its training session and a random identifier created for that recording only. Recordings never include people's names, contact details, location data, or an identifier for your device. Recordings are uploaded once the device is back online, stored securely on Google Cloud, and kept for up to 180 days before being deleted. The app also sends anonymous usage counts: whether a session ran online or offline, how long it lasted, the gases and detector settings used, how many trainees took part, whether an alarm went off, and an approximate area rounded to about 10 km. Usage counts are only added to daily totals and are not kept as a record of individual sessions. Diagnostics and usage counts are on by default and can be turned off at any time in Settings under Share diagnostics. Turning it off stops both right away and deletes anything not yet uploaded.
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and improve our services, process transactions, send communications related to your account, support your training operations, and generate the analytics that power Command and after-action reports. We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We may share data with trusted service providers (a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor, and Google Cloud for hosting and infrastructure; the full named list is available on request) under contractual data-protection obligations.
Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+ and at rest using industry-standard encryption protocols. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel and audited.
Data Retention
Account and subscription data is retained for the lifetime of your subscription and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal, accounting, and reporting requirements. Training session data and after-action reports are retained according to your organization's plan; you may request deletion at any time.
Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. To exercise any of these rights, or to ask a question about how your data is handled, contact us at support@sygnalapp.com. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with applicable law (including GDPR for users in the EU/UK and CCPA/CPRA for California residents).
Children's Privacy
SYGNAL is intended for professional and adult training audiences. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact support@sygnalapp.com so we can remove it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app, by email, or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of SYGNAL after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
